Fire investigators were called to the scene of a deadly house fire in Detroit early Sunday morning. It happened at a home on Riad, near Kelly and Whittier, on the city's east side.

Fire crews say the fire started in the bedroom of a 14-year-old boy who uses a wheelchair to get around. His 16-year-old sister escaped and called for help. The boy did not make it out alive.

His mother was rushed to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Crews say most of the damage to the home was caused by smoke and there were no smoke detectors in the home. Arson is not suspected.

Investigators are now trying to figure out how the fire started. They say it does not appear to be suspicious.
