PONTIAC, Mich. (WXYZ) — Two people are confirmed dead after a vehicle was recovered from Terry Lake in Pontiac.

According to police, a caller reported hearing a vehicle accelerate and become airborne before landing in the lake and sinking.

Deputies say dive team members arrived and found the vehicle in about 25 feet of water at the bottom of the lake. Two people were found inside with no signs of life.

The victims were identified as Robert Grandberry, 69, and Cathy Grandberry, 67, both of Pontiac.

An autopsy showed the cause of death for both victims was drowning. A toxicology investigation is still underway. Investigators say Robert may have had a medical issue prior to going into the lake.
