Black Friday sales have changed a lot over the years. Now it’s more likely to find the biggest doorbuster on Thanksgiving, a day early — but is Black Friday dead?
That’s the question being asked. A recent USA Today poll showed that 52-percent of people are less likely to shop Thanksgiving night this year. Experts point out that you can get great deals throughout the Holiday shopping season, the only real reason to shop on Thanksgiving or Black Friday is if you’re snagging the big doorbuster items.
This year “Best Black Friday” rounded up the top 25 deals for the year — and if you’re willing to wait in lines, the deals are big.
Best Buy, Amazon and Kohl’s frequently appear in the list — meaning chances are if you’re looking for a hot tech item your game plan may be best utilized to bring a hot spot, and a laptop, to one of the big-box stores and try to kill two birds with one stone.
Meanwhile, some stores are saying “no thanks” to Thanksgiving shopping.
This year Costco, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Nordstrom and Staples are among the big name retailers who’ve decided to give workers the day off — each will re-open on Black Friday with their own doorbuster.
Other stores like Best Buy, Macy’s and Target will have double doorbusters. They’ll open their doors early on Thanksgiving, then re-open their doors on Black Friday. Some retailers, like Walmart, will stay open once they kickoff the sales on Thanksgiving.
