Girl Scouts of Southeastern Michigan is hosting its 15th annual Cookie Gala from 6-9 pm on Wednesday, April 19 in the Ballroom of the MGM Grand Hotel in Detroit.
Eight of the Detroit area's finest bakers and chefs will compete against each other for several awards in a tasty competition of desserts that use beloved Girl Scout cookies. Attendees will taste the delicious creations, then vote for their favorites. The evening includes strolling appetizers, a photo booth, and a silent and live auction.
Chefs were assigned the Girl Scout cookie variety featured in their creation. The following restaurants will have culinary artists competing at the 2017 Cookie Gala:
Big Rock Chophouse, Birmingham (Samoas)
Crispelli's Bakery and Pizzeria, Troy (Tagalongs)
Fifty-One-O-One, Dearborn (Trefoils)
Treat Dreams, Ferndale (Thin Mints)
Holiday Market, Royal Oak (Savannah Smiles)
The Morrie, Royal Oak (Samoas)
MGM Grand Detroit (Trefoils and Do-Si-Dos)
Black Finn, Royal Oak (Thin Mints)
The creations will be up for People's Choice, Judges' Choice, Girls' Choice, and CEO's Choice awards.
Live and silent auctions will round out the night with Disney Park Hopper passes for a family of four, a helicopter tour over Detroit, sporting event tickets with signed memorabilia, and more open for bids. Attendees can also bid on more than 50 themed baskets including Mom's on Strike, Michigan Craft Beers, and the newest American Girl Doll Melody Ellison-a positive 9-year-old growing up in Detroit during the Civil Rights movement of the 1960's.
Cookie Gala proceeds benefit girls in southeastern Michigan by helping to provide them with unmatched, Girl Scout leadership experiences. Girl Scouts is where girls can be G-I-R-Ls: Go-getters, Innovators, Risk-takers and Leaders!
