DEARBORN, Mich. (WXYZ) — Damage remains after crews battled a massive fire in Dearborn Christmas night.
The building, located off of Chase Road, just south of Warren Avenue, became engulfed in flames around 10 p.m. Wednesday.
That's when Dearborn Fire Chief Joseph Murray say they got the call. Once crews arrived to the scene, the flames had already gone through the roof. Crews had to fight the flames defensively because it had gotten so bad.

No one was inside the building when the fire started. Also, no crew members were hurt while putting out the fire.
The chief says it will take a while to determine the cause because investigators cannot enter. The building is not structurally safe at this time.
The building is a storage unit, according to Chief Murray. He says he personally has not spoken with the owner about the fire. The building is a total loss, and they are still trying to determine what the next steps are as far as demolition.
Chase Road is expected to reopen later Thursday.
