A local candy maker is getting a taste of success.

Dave's Sweet Tooth Toffee in Harrison Township was featured on Good Morning America last week.

Ever since then, employees have been working around the clock to fill thousands of orders coming in from all over the country.

The owner Dave and his son Andrew Chmielewski were on Good Morning America last week.

Because Dave is a former Detroit firefighter, a portion of their sales goes to Dennis Leary's Firefighter Foundation and that had GMA viewers impressed.

Normally, they take in 10 to 12 orders a day.

The day they were on GMA, they processed more than 3,400 orders.

"We did half the revenue we did for the entire year just in 24 hours," Andrew said. "Good problem to have right? That's what they tell me."

Business slows down around late Spring and Summer but ever since they were on national TV, they haven't taken a break.

"Huge spike in business. I would like to think we were ready for it but I don't think anybody could've been ready for it."

The company has 16 employees and they've never seen this kind of demand.

"I worked all day Mother's Day I took a little bit of time to take my mom out to brunch but I came back here and filled in orders. I was here until 12:30 last night."

So what makes the toffee so delicious? "Doesn't stick in your teeth. It's a softer toffee still has a snap like English toffee," Andrew responded.

Sales for last year totaled around $250,000.

Thursday alone, they took in around $100,000 dollars in orders and that number continues to go up, as some new customers turn into returning customers.

"They ordered on Thursday. We shipped it on Thursday. They got it Friday or Saturday... and they've already placed another order."

Because of their new success, the company will have to hire a few more full time employees.
