Five injured after DDOT bus crashes into building on Detroit's west side

7 Action News has obtained surveillance video showing the crash between a white SUV and the DDOT bus. You can see it above.

 

6:15 p.m.

Police say five people are being treated for their injuries related to this accident.

The 60-year-old bus driver has been taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Three passengers were also taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. They have been identified as a 60-year-old man, a 65-year-old woman and a 45-year-old woman who is confined to a wheelchair.

The 18-year-old driver of the white SUV that is believed to have hit the bus was also taken to the hospital in critical condition.

The fire department says the SUV entered the intersection, hit the bus and then hit a nearby black car. 

The bus continued on and then slammed through the side of the building.

Police are also saying they believe the black car that was hit was parked at the time of the accident.

5:40 p.m.

Police now say the number of people hurt in the accident stands at six.

4:00 p.m.

Seven people were injured after a DDOT Bus crashed into a building on Detroit's west side. Three people, including the driver suffered critical injuries while the other four suffered minor injuries.

The crash happened near in the 14400 block of Dexter near Doris St. around 3:30 p.m. That's north of Davison Ave.

The bus hit a telephone pole before crashing into the building. Two other vehicles are also involved in the crash.

Right now, it's not clear what caused the crash or how many people were on the bus at the time.

3:45 p.m.

Multiple emergency crews are on scene after a DDOT bus crashed into a building on Detroit's west side. We're told seven people were injured in the crash and were on the bus at the time.

We're told all of the people were taken off the bus but we're not sure of their condition. The building is in dangerous condition.
