Detroit firefighter Kevin Ramsey, a 20 year veteran, died after fighting two back-to-back fires in commercial buildings Saturday morning.
When he came back to the station, he complained of not feeling well and was transported to Receiving Hospital where he died of a heart attack.
"Detroit lost a hero tonight," Detroit mayor Mike Duggan said. "I hope everyone in the city will keep the Ramsey family in their thoughts and prayers."
He was 50 years old.
"We lost a firefighter today, Detroit Fire Department commissioner Eric Jones said. "Firefighter Kevin Ramsey. A 20 year veteran who spent 2 years with EMS, 18 years with fire."
He worked at Squad 3 on the Detroit's east side.
