VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Loved ones have identified the elderly couple that passed away in a house fire in Van Buren Township.
Richard and Patricia Johnson were found dead in their garage Thursday morning. According to the fire marshal, the Johnsons were at the furthest point from the flames, indicating they were trying to escape.
The fatal fire happened in the area of 45510 Lilac Lane on Belleville Lake, police say.

Police are still investigating the cause of the fire.
