Faurecia to close two local auto plants, hundreds of employees to lose their jobs

Faurecia confirms that two of its auto plants will shut down on December 2.

Approximately 351 employees, both salaried and hourly, will be losing their jobs. The plants affected include the Sterling Heights plant on Merril Road and the plant in Fraser on Masonic Road.

The closures are due to the end of production for vehicles the plants supported.

Both plants produced interior components, door panels, center consoles and seats for the Chrysler 200. FCA previously announced end of production for that vehicle at the end of the year.

The only plants closing are the plants that supported the Chrysler 200.

There are two other plants that will not close. They are also located in Sterling Heights and Fraser. The plants that will remain open support Ford and General Motors.
