Deantai Box was ambushed in the driveway of his home on Ohio Street near Curtis on Detroit's west side Monday morning.

The 32-year-old was going to get a wheelchair out of a friend's car that was parked on the side of his home when a witness reportedly heard three gunshots after Box repeatedly said, "No."

Loved ones gathered outside of Box's well-manicured home as Detroit Police began their investigation.

Box, who also has tenants in two homes located near his own, was the owner of Something Unique Florist in Lathrup Village.

A relative says he's been talented at arranging flowers since he was a boy.

In the past few months, Box also opened his home to a friend dying from cancer to live out the rest of his days.

Detroit Police are not sure if Box was the victim of a random robbery attempt or if he was targeted.

Anyone with any information is urged to call Detroit Police.
