Huron Valley Schools says three schools closed earlier on Friday have reopened after a potential environmental concern.

White Lake Township officials notified the school district of the issue. Lakeland High School, White Lake Middle School and Lakewood Elementary were closed but opened around 3:30 p.m.

The White Lake Township Water Department said there was a sewage backup a the Lakeland Campus and out of an abundance of caution, they closed the campus.

They identified a mechanical failure that caused the sewage backup and have cleaned it up and treated it, so they decided to re-open the facilities.
