Former Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander is scheduled to start game 2 of the World Series for the Houston Astros on Wednesday night.

After two stellar performances  that led to Verlander being named the ALCS MVP, the 34-year-old will take the mound for his fourth World Series game and his first since 2012.

In his first World Series appearance, the then 23-year-old pitched started two games, had an 0-2 record with a 5.73 ERA. He pitched 11 innings, gave up 12 hits, 10 runs, 7 earned runs and a 1.545 WHIP.

Then, in 2012, Verlander started just one game, went four innings, giving up six hits and five runs on two home runs with a 1.75 WHIP.

The Los Angeles Dodgers took game one of the World Series with a 3-1 win over the Astros, and Verlander will look to lead Houston's rebound in game two.

In the ALCS, Verlander started two games, had a .56 ERA, going 16 innings, giving up one run for a 0.750 WHIP.
