Author, journalist, historian Herb Boyd on the history of Black Detroit

The conversation began on Spotlight on the News but continues here on WXYZ.com with native Detroiter, journalist and historian Herb Boyd, the author of Black Detroit: A People's History of Self-Determination and professor at City College of New York.  Boyd begins his book in 1701 and takes it up to present day.  It is a comprehensive look at the highs and lows, the challenges and successes of African Americans in the Motor City.
