Batten down the hatches, matey! Today is National Talk Like A Pirate Day!
According to the official Talk Like A Pirate Day Website (yes, it exists), a group of friends came up with the idea and deemed September 19 as a day to “Yo ho ho” and pirate speak to your heart’s content.

The website says the day’s popularity grew after it was written about in a newspaper in 2002. Now, people around the world can be heard exchanging pirate prose in celebration.
