A 23-year-old Hazel Park man has confessed to strangling his friend with a belt and cutting the tips of her fingers off with bolt cutters before he hid her body in the attic of his home, according to police.

Jordan McClanahan is now facing one count of first-degree premeditated murder and one count of desecration of the body.

If found guilty, he could spend the rest of his life behind bars.

In court Thursday, McClanahan seemed to be trying to blame his actions on a mix of drugs and alcohol.

Police say Jessica White's body was found in McClanahan's home. We're told she was likely killed the same day she was reported missing on April 23.

Family say the two were childhood friends.

Her last contact with her family was a text message, while she was at the McClanahan home, saying things with his family were awkward.

Police say the 21-year-old's body was found wrapped up in something and hidden in a roof-line storage space, next to McClanahan's room.

McClanahan was arraigned on the charges in Hazel Park District Court on Thursday afternoon. He's now being held without bond.
