Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged Earl Joseph Larche, 37, with carjacking.
He will be arraigned in Romulus at the 34th District Court today.
It is alleged that Larche jumped into a woman's car at a BP gas station in Allen Park and attempted to drive away.
She and a male truck driver at the scene were able to stop the car from leaving the station, but the defendant broke free and ran from the scene.
After video of the incident was caught on camera, the Allen Park Police Department sent it out and received several tips.
APPD followed up on all of the tips and phone calls and were able to identify a suspect.
Larche was apprehended by Allen Park detectives and police officers on Friday.
His bond is set at $15,000.
