Man robbed, shot walking home from work in Southfield

Police are investigating after a man was shot and robbed in Southfield around 5 a.m. Thursday morning. 

We're told the shooting happened on the Detroit border near 8 Mile and Berg Road.

Officers say the man was walking back from work when another man walked up with a handgun. The suspect demanded his money, struck him in the back of the head and then shot him in the back, according to police.

The victim was rushed to the hospital and his condition is unknown at this time.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 40s who is around 6 feet tall. He has a medium build and a short beard, and was wearing a grey and black jumpsuit with a hoodie, black shoes and black gloves at the time of the incident.

He reportedly fled the scene in a burgundy pickup truck. 

Detroit police are investigating this incident. No arrests have been made.
