It's no secret Google has been consistently voted one of the best places to work -- in fact -- for six years in a row, it's taken the cake on the Great Places to Work list.
And now, the Ann Arbor offices, are no exception.
"The happier an employee is, the more energized they are, the better work that they do. So, Google thinks very carefully about how to create the right environment," said Charles Scrase, co-site lead for the Ann Arbor office and director of Google technical solutions
Google opened its first Michigan office in a tiny space on Ann Arbor's main street in 2006. They had 12 employees. Eleven years later, Google employees more than 450 people in Michigan and took over a 135,000 foot space on Traverwood Drive.
Try not to be jealous -- but this is what's happening in the new Ann Arbor office space:
- All food and drinks are complimentary (See baristas)
- You can bring your dog to work (as long as your pod mates are cool with it)
- Laundry room is available for employees so they don't have to run home to do chores
- Meditation rooms
- Massage area
- Each floor has a different Michigan-themed conference room
"On the third floor, we have songs that were written in Michigan or by bands that are from Michigan, said Scarse. "On the second floor, we have destinations in the state of Michigan. On the first floor, we have inventions from the state of Michigan."
And if you're wondering, yes, they're hiring.
