The City of Royal Oak Fire Department and the Royal Oak Engineering Division are working with the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality to figure out the source of the heavy odor around the area of Coolidge Highway and 14 Mile Road.
MDEQ representatives have walked through the affected area to determine where the odor is coming from.
Consumers Energy responded to many complains of a natural gas smell and, in each case, has not found any evidence of natural gas.
The City of Royal Oak gave an update on its Facebook page with details about the next course of action.
