Men ride bikes from Detroit to Texas for charity

Posted

Dane Wittig, Tyler Wittig and Colin McConnell are riding bikes from downtown Detroit to Austin, Texas. The three men are raising awareness and money for three "underdog" charities: Chive Charities, a nonprofit that helps veterans and people with rare medical conditions, the Coalition of Dwarf Advocacy and Healing Vercammen Hearts, a group that benefits three young boys born with congenital heart defects.

The men refer to these organizations as "underdogs" because you don't hear that much about them, but they still need help.

"We wanted to do it and build a sense of community in the process," says Tyler.

"We wanted to show the rest of the world that Detroit might be the underdog but we're all here to support each other," adds Colin.

These three men inspired a 10-year-old girl to help. Michael Flatley raised more than $2,800 riding her bike from Novi to downtown Detroit.

"I just like to help people that are in need. Helping people out, it just makes you feel happy inside," says Michael.
