The Michigan State Police Bomb Squad is deploying a robot at the scene of the Fraser sinkhole today.

Police say the bot will be used to get a video inventory of the inside of two of the homes severely damaged by the sinkhole.

The homes, one on Eberlein Drive and one on 15 Mile, are scheduled to be demolished and the inventory is needed for negotiation of the sale price.

The video will help record some of the homes' current contents.

“This is a great use of technology and is another example of our various public service agencies working together,” said Public Works Commissioner Candice S. Miller in a press release. “We are delighted that the MSP is able to support us. We are committed to using every tool available to do this entire job correctly and safely.”
