A Roseville man has been charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Jeremaine Tilmon.
Floyd Nix, 35, is charged with First Degree Murder, Felony Firearm and Felon in Possession of a Firearm.
Nix was arraigned Friday on the charges.
Tilmon was shot and killed on November 3 around 2:30 a.m. while at his friend's house on Chatsworth Street in Detroit.
Nix reportedly shot Tilmon after an encounter. Tilmon was unarmed and was holding both hands in the air.
Tilmon was the stepfather to Davontae Sanford, the young man who was wrongfully convicted of murder when he was 14, and recently released from prison a few months ago.
Tilmon was a mentor to teens at East English Village Prep Academy, and was known as a cease-fire activist.
