The Red Wings are adding some tributes to the past to the decor inside their state-of-the-art new home.

The original letters from the Olympia signage went up on Little Caesars Arena's interior walls on Wednesday.

The letters come from the Detroit Olympia, an arena that was the home of the Detroit Red Wings from 1927 until 1979.

The arena was demolished in September 1987.

The letters stand next to another ode to the past, a mural of Gordie Howe.
