BRANDON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) — Oakland County Sheriff's Office ground search units have located the body of a missing man in Brandon Township.

On Jan. 10, deputies responded to a missing person report on 1000 block of Zarieda Street. The missing person's roommate told police the 52-year-old man refused to take his prescription medication and left the home wearing only tan shorts and shoes.

After searching the immediate area, deputies did not find the man but did find a single shoe in the road that may have belonged the subject.

The county's aviation unit was deployed to search the area due to the extreme cold weather, officials say.

Ground search units were later able to find the missing man's body inside a marshy area behind a nearby home on Zarieda Street. Deputies say the 52-year-old was "obviously deceased" when discovered.

The Medical Examiner has scheduled an autopsy. The case remains under investigation.
