Two suspects are in custody in connection to the murdered of a pregnant Melvindale mom.
After being missing for several days, the body of Amanda Benton was discovered dumped in a vacant house in Detroit.
Family members tell 7 Action News she had been beaten and her body set on fire.
“The only part that wasn’t burned was that baby, she protected her daughter,” said Benton’s sister, Jessica Mason.
Detroit police have yet to say what the connection may be between the suspects and the victims, but her family believes they wanted Benton’s car, which was found abandoned a few blocks from where her body was discovered.
As loved ones mourn the 29-year-old’s sudden death, they are also struggling to pay for a proper burial for her and her unborn child.
Benton was 5 1/2 months pregnant. She also leaves behind four sons, ages 11, 9, 6 and 4.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page to help pay for expenses.
