A drug raid Thursday night on Andover Street north of 7 Mile became “heated” even “emotional” and “bruising” as undercover officers from the 12th Precinct were posing as drug dealers when officers from the 11th Precinct staged the raid.

Police sources tell 7 Investigator Jim Kiertzner that two dozen officers were involved and there was pushing and shoving involved.

Raids involve officers in full tactical gear with assault rifles ready for the worst.

The only official word from Detroit Police is the incident is under investigation by Internal Affairs. No one would talk about it on camera.

Only 7 Action News cameras were rolling as three of those officers canvassed Andover Street taking pictures in the daylight and trying to avoid a watchdog still guarding the drug house.

Sources say their investigation will include interviewing all the officers involved as well as command staff.

Sources say there is communications system in place to keep this from happening but somebody failed to follow it.

Sources also say the undercover officers were operating a “push-off” where arrests are made and vehicles seized to generate revenue.
