Detroit Police are searching for the man who raped a woman in the area West McNichols and Greenfield in northwest Detroit.

On Thursday, investigators released a sketch in hopes of identifying the attacker who was armed with a handgun.

On February 19 around 8:00 pm, the victim was sitting in a car near Forrer and West McNichols when the man approached the passenger side of the vehicle where the window was down.

The woman was parked while waiting on a relative to exit a nearby health facility.

The armed assailant ordered the victim to open the door, he got in and and threw her purse out of the window to an accomplice who grabbed it and ran off on foot.

The man then ordered the woman to drive a couple blocks away to Forrer and Verne where she was raped inside the vehicle.

That assailant is described as a black man in his early to mid twenties with a medium build, medium complexion, dark brown eyes, a mustache with a "tapered low cut" afro hairstyle.

He was wearing a black sweater, black pants, and a black Gucci belt.

Anyone with any information on the crime or a suspect is urged to call investigators with the Detroit Police Sex Crimes Unit at 313-596-1950.
