A disturbing discovery was made on Detroit’s west side when a body was found in a drum.
The man’s body was found in the area folks had been searching for a missing Detroit chef.
Douglas Calhoun’s family even showed up to the scene. They are hoping it’s not him.
Crime scene investigators combed a field for clues, blocking off a section of Greydale Street on the city’s west side.
The man’s body was not identifiable. The medical examiner will work to identify the body.
Calhoun’s family told us this is an area they searched when looking for him.
His sister was too distraught for words at the possibility this could be him. But - to be clear - it may not be.
One thing that caused speculation, earlier Friday Crime Stoppers offered a $6,000 reward for tips that break the case.
We know it was a tip to police that led them here. But beyond that Calhoun’s family will have to wait to see if it is in fact their loved one or someone else’s.
It could take days for the body to be identified.
