Warren resident arrested for impersonating FBI agent

Posted

A Warren resident was arrested on Friday for impersonating an FBI agent, the FBI said in a statement.

Kevin Balfour, 62, has been arrested for the exact same crime. According to Special Agent in Charge David Gelios, Balfour was arrested in 2010 with help from the Warren Police Department.

According to the FBI, Balfour would carry a gun and an FBI badge and would tell his victims he would make traffic tickets and other legal matters disappear for a fee.

In the first instance, he pled guilty and was sentenced to three years in prison before being released in 2013.

The FBI said they received information that Balfour was once again impersonating an agent and using it to defraud people.

They are looking for anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Balfour. If you believe you were a victim, please call the FBI Macomb County Resident Agency at 586-412-4844.
