Facebook battle between metro Detroit mayor and vocal critic gets ugly

A war of words exchanged on Facebook between a metro Detroit mayor and a critic has some questioning the mayor's ability to take criticism.

Sterling Heights Mayor Mike Taylor recently used profane language in response to critic Kevin Lee, who went after him for cement cracks seen at a nearby skate park.

Both men declined to talk on camera.

On the phone, both admitted to taking part in the ugly exchange that has since drawn more criticism from people in the community. During the vile exchange on social media, the mayor's critic also used lewd and vulgar language of a sexual nature towards the mayor.

Citizens we spoke with say they're disappointed in the fact the interaction wasn't more mature, and didn't reflect the type of positive image the city is known for.

The mayor said he would only agree to an on camera interview if we discussed positive things happening in Sterling Heights, rather than address the online battle.
