Firefighters battle large fire at Buff Whelan Chevrolet in Sterling Heights

Speaking to reporters, a Sterling Heights fire chief says this is the first time in his career he's faced a four alarm fire.

He calls it the worst he's ever seen.

The damage includes most of the service area, including the body shop.

Sterling Heights fire officials confirm the fire is now three alarms and confirm a "great portion" of the service area is on fire.

A number of vehicles also caught fire.

Crews from six surrounding cities have been called in to assist at the scene. The fire is now reported to be under control.

The cause of the fire is unknown.

Fire crews are on the scene of a large fire at a Macomb County car dealership.

The fire is at Buff Whelan Chevrolet in Sterling Heights.

The dealership is located on Van Dyke. The southbound lanes of that road are closed between 17 Mile and 18 Mile roads.

At this point no information has been released about any injuries, or the cause of the fire.
