Macomb County Clerk Karen Spranger, stood in front of the county ethics board today, slapped with violating the ethics ordinance for allowing improper use of county computers.
She has been fined $100.
“It’s what it is. And I just respect the decision,” she told 7 Action News afterwards.
Today comes on the heels of other troubles for the embattled clerk, who took office just months ago. She is threatening to sue the county over work protocol disputes and is facing a whistleblower lawsuit brought on by two former aids, also present today, who claim an unfair firing and hostile work environment.
When asked if her office was a hostile work environment, Spranger replied, “In my opinion, no. This is a few disagreements.”
She says people in her office need to communicate more and work things out.
