The suspect in the case of the woman fatally shot in Waterford on Aug. 27 has been arraigned.

26-year-old Ian Thomas Jones was arraigned on Wednesday for the killing of Ashley Rich, 26. He was also charged with possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime. He was denied bond.

He is due for a probable cause conference on Sept. 8, and a preliminary exam is schedule for Sept. 15.

Rich was shot and killed in her apartment. Her mother, Mindy Newcomb, said Jones has threatened her before, and believes it was cold-blooded murder.

Newcomb said Jones told detectives it was an accident.

"There's no accident in my mind, out of anger, this is not the first time he threatened her," she said.
