A Wixom couple needs your help as they desperately search for their family dog after it escaped from a nearby vet.

The couple wants nothing more than to have their dog - named Lucy - back at home.

She may have entered a wooded area off Novi Road right behind the vet she visited.

After a few days of searching around the clock and time running out, they're hoping someone finds her.

Sandy and Robb Hamill are heartbroken. They say they took their dog Lucy to the vet in Novi, but somehow Lucy got off the leash and ran off.

Lucy, a Jack Russell/Yorkie mix, is only about 15 pounds. Sandy says it’s been rough at home without her especially for her brother.

The Hamills, with the help of the vet, have posted flyers and even hired a drone operator to search the woods behind the vet.

They’ve been searching an area between 10 Mile and Grand River - between Novi and Meadowbrook. They believe Lucy may still be in the area.

The Hamills say there is nothing they want more than to have Lucy back home.

We're also told Lucy had part of her leg shaved for a catheter, but she is in good health. They're asking anyone and everyone in the area to keep an eye out for Lucy.

The owner of the vet’s office is very shaken up. In fact, she was in tears and she insists it was an accident and says she has taken additional steps to make sure something like this never happens again.

A $1,000 reward is being offered to help find the dog.
