A four-year-old from Highland Township is recovering in the hospital after a fire broke out underneath her bedroom.
Thankfully, the family was able to escape the fire, but lost everything and now needs your help.
We're told 4-year-old Sophie Houghton is doing better. She's in stable condition, but she did suffer lots of second and third degree burns.
The family says what's important is everyone made it out okay, but now they have no home to return to.
The family of four is thankful to be alive after their home erupted in flames around 1 a.m. Thursday night.
Sophie was sleeping when the fire broke out underneath her bedroom in a crawl space.
Sophie and her family were able to make it out alive; Sophie’s sister ran into her room and got her out to safety.
But Sophie suffered burns across her body and is now recovering at Children's Hospital in Detroit.
Sophie's uncle and his fiancé, both very close to the little girl, say it's hard to see such a beautiful little girl laying in a hospital bed.
"Seeing her laying there crying, it's just really hard,” says Christy Rowe. “She's only four."
"This is a problem for them, every little bit, back into a house,” Frank Laszlo.
The cause of the fire has not been released.
Meanwhile, the family has set up a GoFundMe page. We're told Sophie’s family is going to need all the help they can get.
