A 57-year-old man from the Marine City area died when he appeared to have fallen down an embankment and into the Belle River.
The man was camping in the area with friends when they heard him fall.
He appeared to be highly intoxicated based on reports made by his fellow campers.
There were no signs of an altercation and investigation by the St. Clair County Sheriff's office is still underway.
Rescue crews arrived, removed him from the river and administer CPR.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
