A local school district confirms they are investigating hazing on the school grounds.
Dearborn Schools says they are taking the investigation very serious and are releasing new information about the incident.
The alleged hazing happened a few days ago on school grounds at Fordson.
It involves two football players. They are both minors. Their names are not being released, but because of the type of incident alleged - which is too graphic to share - there has been some discussion with parents i spoke with off camera, as well as on social media, about whether this incident is a case of sexual assault.
The Dearborn Schools Superintendent Dr. Glenn Maylenko responded to criticism the school isn’t doing enough to investigate an alleged hazing incident on the school grounds involving two football players by saying that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“We’re taking this seriously and there was no - rumors are not accurate, there was no rape,” he says. “The investigation is not complete.”
Dr. Maylenko says the district even sent out a letter to parents outlining the context of the alleged hazing and how the district is handling the situation.
For the moment Dr. Maylenko is asking those on social media to please respect the rights of the minors involved during this investigation.
The football player accused of hazing has been suspended during the investigation. We’re told he was also removed from the football team.
