One disabled female victim has been reported dead from a fire at Willow Creek Apartments in Westland, off of Newburgh Rd. between Ford Rd. and Marquette St.
68-year-old Verlene Johnson was at a neighbor's house when she went to her apartment to take her medicine.
She was in a wheelchair and was blind. The fire did not start in her home.
According to a witness, the complex was mostly inhabited by seniors.
One police officer and one firefighter are being treated for smoke inhalation.
