Grosse Pointe Park police are searching for a suspect who viciously attacked a woman earlier this month.

According to police, the suspect ran up to the woman and attacked her with a knife. Police say he didn't take anything and they aren't sure why he attacked the woman.

Police say he slashed her severely and then fled on foot into Detroit. The victim said she believed the man followed her. It happened in the area of Cadieux and Charlevoix, one block southwest of Mack Ave.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 20s, about 6'1" to 6'2" tall with a very thin build. He was wearing a white sweatshirt with the hood pulled up and blue shorts.

Police believe two surveillance videos show the suspect. Check out the footage in the video player above. Anyone with information about the attack or the suspect is asked to call Grosse Pointe Park police at 313-822-7400.
