Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has charged a Taylor father in the death of his 4-year-old daughter last year, according to Wayne County Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Maria Miller.
Demar Canada, 25, has been charged with Felony Murder and Second Degree Murder in the death of his daughter on May 24, 2015.
According to Miller, police were called to the home just before 9 a.m. on May 24, 2015 because the child was unresponsive. The child was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.
Taylor police say her death was because of the severe head trauma she received from child abuse in 2011. Canada was charged in 2011 after investigation from Taylor police, but pled to two and six months probation at the time.
The Wayne County Medical Examiner determined the cause of death from severe head trauma caused by Canada. Miller said more information on the case will be presented in court.
Canada is expected to be arraigned at 34th District Court in Romulus on Saturday.
