Students protested the Dearborn Public Schools' handling of an alleged hazing incident at Fordson High School in Dearborn on Sunday.
The incident, which allegedly involves Fordson High School football players, happened last week on school grounds. The details are too graphic to share.
Current and former students held a protest Sunday demanding more transparency from school administrators, who called the incident a case of possible hazing.
"It should have been handled as a sexual assault case and not just hazing and pushed aside," one student said.
Superintendent Dr. Glenn Maylenko responded to criticism by saying the district is fully investigating the allegations.
“We’re taking this seriously and the rumors are not accurate, there was no rape,” he says. “The investigation is not complete.”
The football player accused of hazing has been suspended during the investigation. The district said he was also removed from the football team.
