The Oakland County Sheriff's Office has identified the 15-year-old boy who drowned in Cass Lake on Saturday.

According to deputies, the teen is Mohammad Wutwut from Dearborn.

Deputies say Wutwut was swimming in a shallow part of Cass Lake on Saturday afternoon when he went under water and never resurfaced.

Just before 1 a.m. Sunday, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office dive team recovered his body about 300 feet from shore in 9 feet of water.

According to deputies, the 1,200-acre lake has bottom heavy growth and very dense weeds. There was zero visibility where the body was found and they had to use sonar.

A witness tells 7 Action News another person drowned at the same spot, exactly 10 years ago today.

Wutwut's mosque set up a GoFundMe page to support his family.
