Wershe was released to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service to be transported to Florida.
He has a prison term to serve in Florida on a case that involved a car theft ring and racketeering. Wershe had been at the Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee, Michigan.
Wershe was granted parole after nearly 30 years in prison on a drug conviction. He was Michigan's longest-serving non-violent criminal.
