A 19-year-old from Macomb Township has turned himself in to police in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Oxford Township.

Deputies say a newspaper delivery woman discovered the body with vehicle debris nearby off of Drahner Road east of Olive Drive around 4:19 a.m.

Police say the teen was driving a black 2015 Chevrolet Silverado pickup with damage consistent with evidence found at the scene. He is being held at the Oakland County Jail while charges are considered. His truck has been impounded.

Investigators have identified the woman who was killed as 26-year-old Jordyn Brooke Puckett from Orion Township.

According to friends, Puckett was a passenger in their vehicle at around 9:30 p.m. when they began arguing. Puckett then got out of the vehicle and began walking eastbound on Drahner.

The friends say they tried to convince Puckett to get back into the car, but she refused and they left the area. They later returned and assumed she had arrived safely home when they were not able to find her.

Puckett was struck about a half hour after she got out of the car. The scene of the accident is about a mile from where she began walking.

The incident remains under investigation and police are still looking for witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Oakland County Sheriff's Department tip line at 1-888-TURN-1-IN.
