Man's body 'burned beyond recognition' after Detroit home catches fire

DETROIT (WXYZ) — Authorities are investigating after a man's body was found burned beyond recognition inside a home on Detroit's west side Sunday morning.

Detroit firefighters and police were dispatched to a home in the 17000 block of Chapel at 2:51 a.m.

First reponders battled the fire at the home. They later found the body of the deceased man in the rear of the home. Investigators say the man severely burned.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. This case is still under investigation.
