The Detroit Tigers home opener comes nearly two months after beloved team owner Mike Ilitch died at the age of 87.
In honor of Ilitch, the team has cut "Mr. I" right in the middle of center field ahead of Opening Day on Friday, April 7.

The team will also sport "Mr. I" patches on their jersey, which they have had on since beginning Spring Training.
Ilitch's other team, the Detroit Red Wings, also honored him with "Mr. I" patches on their sweaters and "Mr. I" painted on the Joe Louis Arena ice.
Many players and coaches remembered Ilitch at the time of his death, including Justin Verlander, Manager Brad Ausmus, Jordan Zimmermann and more.
