Detroit's star-studded, primetime golf event is gaining even more big names.
Justin Timberlake and Mark Wahlberg are expected to join Rickie Fowler and Rory McIlroy for the Detroit Golf Club's TV special this summer.
WXYZ has learned Timberlake and Wahlberg will partner with the professional golfers for the June 7th event, once the details are finalized.
Sources close to the event wished to remain anonymous, as the event's announcement is not yet official.
Dan Gilbert and Quicken Loans are behind the efforts to bring the PGA back to Detroit. The process of creating a primetime TV special recently emerged, after years of negotiating to bring a PGA Tour event to Detroit Golf Club.
Timberlake and Wahlberg recently competed in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Wahlberg spent the summer of 2013 filming Transformers 4 in the metro area.
