Detroit Tigers designated hitter Victor Martinez was hospitalized overnight in Detroit for what was diagnosed as an irregular heartbeat, according to the team. He is going on the 10-day disabled list.
According to CBS Sports, Martinez asked to be pulled from Thursday's game because he was suffering from cold sweats, dizziness and a racing heartbeat.
Ausmus told reporters before Friday night's game that Martinez was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat and could stay in the hospital on Friday night.
It's expected he'll go on the 10-day disabled list as well.
Before being taken out of the game, he went 2-for-4 with an RBI in the team's win.
