FERNDALE, MICH (WXYZ) — Ferndale has become a prime location for festivals and events, but none more creative, delicious, interactive, and entertaining than DIY Street Fair, celebrating its 12th year September 20-22.
Open your eyes to creativity and surround yourself with a diverse array of original, handcrafted quality art and culinary products; delicious Detroit-centric cuisine and live music, activities for all ages, and ice-cold craft brews and cocktails at this unique festival, which will feature 150 artisans showcasing their best work, a dozen food trucks, and over 40 bands on multiple stages. Presented by Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, the DIY Street Fair is located on the east side of Woodward Avenue between East Nine Mile Road and East Troy Street.
Tasty eats will be offered up by Mac Shack, Shredderz, El Guapo Mexican Grill, Detroit BBQ, Nosh Pit, Jackson 5 Star, Port, Treat Dreams, and more. Adults looking for a cold one will enjoy brews by Lagunitas Brewing Co., Short's Brewing Co., Boulevard, Griffin Claw, Woodward Avenue Brewers, Ballast Point, Sam Adams, Traveler Co., Dogfish Head, and B. Nektar; and craft cocktails featuring Hendricks Gin, Reyka Vodka, Sailor Jerry Rum, Monkey Shoulder Scotch, Glenfiddich Scotch, Tullamore, and D.E.W Whiskey.
Live music will include over 40 local, regional and national bands on multiple stages. Highlights include Jr. Jr., The Gories, ETC Additional activities will include wine tastings by Banfi Wines on Saturday and Sunday, Theatre Bizarre info and entertainment, and a cornhole tourney courtesy of Metro Detroit Chevy Dealers, who will have their own custom made cornhole boards set up for playing. Bring those backyard BBQ gaming skills, and win an assortment of Chevy gear, WAB gift certificates, and other prizes. Children can enjoy the DIA and Detroit Science Center Kid Zones, face-painting, a bounce house, and more.
The DIY Street Fair is free to attend and welcomes all ages (food, drink, and some activities are at a charge.) Hours: Saturday, Sept 21 11am-midnight, Sunday, Sept 22 11am-11pm.
